LEEHAC HORSESHOWS & MORE

Tongg ranch stables

During a recent visit to Oahu, I ran out of time and wasn't able to get to Tongg Ranch Stables.
That being said, no one seemed to remember it -- so it may no longer exist!
I only have a few photos from the horse shows that I attended there -- I wish I had more to share!!

During the 1970's, the Palehua Paniolas 4-H Club (at Tongg Ranch Stables)

held numerous LEEHAC horse shows in the arena shown above.

At the time, I hadn't been exposed to Arena Polo and didn't understand the arena's design.

These days, I'm all about Arena Polo and totally get why the arena was constructed this way!

The first off-site horse show that our 4-H club attended was held at Tongg Ranch Stables

on March 10, 1973.

I'm pretty sure the arena

and stables were located

in nearby Ewa.

Tongg had a lesson program which was similar to ours at Barbers Point.

Taken during the same March 10, 1973 show,

the arena is unseen in these photos but would be

on the left hand side.

Looking thru the arena,

this photo showcases

a couple of their

neat, new jumps!

The shot gives a good idea of the size and scope of the arena.

These two clilps were pulled from one of my Paniolo Press Magazines.
Sunday, February 10, 1974 the Palehua Paniolas hosted a 4-H Open Show.
The photo top right shows a portion of the covered grand stand
that isn't captured in any of my other photos.

I know there are others who have better photos and information on this facility than me.

Please let me know if you do -- I'll be happy to share them!!
